Recently I started getting an annoying popup prompt for my Adobe ID while opening PDFs. I don’t have one and don’t plan to get one – it is just useless to me at this point. [ Disclaimer: This worked for me with Adobe Acrobat Reader 11. Sep 11, 2015 Create, edit, comment, and sign with the new Acrobat DC mobile app. And use Mobile Link to access recent files across desktop, web, and mobile. Edit anything. Instantly edit PDFs and scanned documents as naturally as any other file with revolutionary new imaging technology. Replace ink signatures. Send, track, manage, and store signed documents with a built-in e-signature service. When you receive a PDF document by email that you must sign, the process of printing out the file, signing on the dotted line with a pen, scanning the signed document and sending it back can be a rather tedious task. Fortunately, Apple has added the ability to electronically sign a PDF document using Preview, a program that comes preinstalled on every Mac running OS X Lion or later. The steps involved to electronically sign a PDF using Preview on Mac are quite simple and will save you valuable time, especially if you have multiple documents, contracts, forms or other paperwork to sign. If you are worried that your virtual signature will look bad, rest assured that you can create your signature by using the trackpad or holding up your signature on paper to a Mac's built-in iSight camera. Steps to Electronically Sign a PDF Using Trackpad • Open the PDF file you need to sign in Preview. • Click on the Markup icon ( ) and then the signature ( ) icon. • Click on Create Signature > Click Here to Begin. Draw your signature on the trackpad. Click any key when finished. • Click on the signature created to insert it into the PDF document. The signature can be moved or resized like a regular image. Steps to Electronically Sign a PDF Using Camera • Open the PDF file you need to sign in Preview. • Click on the Markup icon ( ) and then the signature ( ) icon. • Click on Create Signature > Camera. Sign your name on white paper and hold it to be visible to the camera. Preview will draw a virtual signature. • Click on the signature created to insert it into the PDF document. The signature can be moved or resized like a regular image. Tips • If you are using the trackpad to create your electronic signature, it is recommended that you look at Preview and go slow and steady with your finger to achieve the best result. For an even more precise signature, you can use an iPhone or iPad stylus, preferably one with a fine-tipped ending, to draw your signature on the trackpad. • Signing a piece of white paper and holding it up to the camera is the easiest way of creating an electronic signature in Preview, although this method does not always yield the best results. The signature will appear inverted when you hold it up to your Mac's camera, but Preview will automatically ensure that it reads properly from left to right. • You can create an electronic signature in Preview by following steps above even if you do not have a PDF document opened. By default, all electronic signatures that you create are automatically stored in a list on Preview so that you can insert them into future PDFs documents and other files without needing to repeat these steps. Preview can store multiple signatures at once. • Apple also provides markup tools in the Mail app in macOS to create electronic signatures that can be directly inserted into your emails. Just to be 'that guy'. While people often do refer to this as a 'digital signature', it really isn't anything of the sort. A digital signature is a cryptographic entity that at some level proves that you are indeed who you claim you are. It generally doesn't involve anything resembling your on-paper signature. Anyone can append a rasterized/digitized version of your written signature to a document - it doesn't have to be you. With a real digital signature, though, that can't happen unless you are sloppy with your private key(s). Just to be 'that guy'. Nice awareness-raising article but I am not sure why this is a Macrumors post. I've been signing PDFs on my 2013 mba for a while now so it isn't a brand new thing. Maybe new to Yoshemite though. I've never figured out how to do this if you don't have a camera or trackpad. A simple image import feature would be nice but there isnt one last time I tried Yes you can import images.

After months of, Microsoft finally released for its Xbox One controller, allowing it to pull double duty as wired controller for PC gaming. Unlike the Xbox 360 wireless controller, which required a separate dongle for PC use, all you need to use the Xbox One controller on PC is a standard Micro-USB cable. The wired connection provides the power, so you don’t even need batteries. Unfortunately, you can’t use the Xbox One controller wirelessly on a PC at this time. Driver Installation To set up the controller, and download the drivers for either a 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) machine. (If you’re unsure which file to grab, open Control Panel, type About in the search bar and click System. Then, look under 'System Type.' ) Open the file you just downloaded. Amusingly enough, Windows will show an 'unknown publisher' warning, even though the drivers are coming from Microsoft. Click Run in the box that pops up. You don’t have to plug in the controller to install the drivers. Jared Newman Even though the drivers are from Microsoft, they will appear unsigned. A setup wizard should appear. Read and accept the license agreement, wait for the installation to finish, then click Finish. Now, plug in your Xbox One controller. It may vibrate briefly, and you should see a 'driver software installed successfully' message on the System Tray. Jared Newman The System Tray popup will let you know that your Xbox One controller is ready to use. At this point, you should be ready to play. Games that support Microsoft’s Xbox 360 controller should automatically recognize the Xbox One controller without any additional setup (with some exceptions described below). Potential issues The biggest problem is that several of the games I tested would not recognize the controller, including Dark Souls II, Transistor and Eldritch. The controller did recognize several other games, including Dishonored, Super Meat Boy and Trials Evolution. Uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers did not help, so hopefully this is just a temporary issue that Microsoft and game developers can resolve through updates. Also, the first time I installed the driver, Windows 7 showed a 'Runtime Error' after plugging in the controller, followed by an 'XboxStat.exe has stopped working' error. The controller still worked, but the message was a nuisance. These messages went away after reinstalling the driver. Why can't I download torrents? August 18, 2009 12:52 AM Subscribe. I'm trying to download torrents from demonoid and openoffice.org and using Bit Torrent for Mac (I'm running osx 10.5.7). You should be seeing the seeds/peers in the torrent status even if your ISP is somehow interfering. I can’t figure out exactly why this happens, but somehow the connection between the phone and the computer gets out of whack and while the Mac can see that there are photos on the iPhone, it can’t quite access the content itself. When I first encountered it myself, I figured “yeah, unplug. • File Uploader • • PasteBin • • Knowledge Base • • Subreddits • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Infections • • • Tools • Software • • • • • • • • • Tutorials • • Please use the 'Select Flair' button after making your thread. I'd open a torrent again and again and it'd just open the uTorrent software but never prompt me to add the torrent. When I try to download things already in the list (from 2 weeks ago, when I was still able to add torrents) it will put them on QUEUE instead of downloading them. I'd have to right-click and select Force Start for it to actually begin. If I uninstall uTorrent and then re-install it (maybe that'll fix it), would I lose my downloads queue? I have a LOT of unfinished torrents I'd still like to get back to eventually. Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I'm trying to set up a simple web server on Mac OS X, and I keep getting an error when I run bind. Here's what I'm running (this transcript uses GNU Guile, but just as a convenient interface to posix). (define addr (inet-aton '127.0.0.1')); get internal representation of 127.0.0.1 (define sockaddr (make-socket-address AF_INET addr 8080)); make a struct sockaddr (define sock (socket PF_INET SOCK_STREAM 0)); make a socket (bind sock sockaddr); bind the socket to the address That gives me the error In procedure bind: can't assign requested address. So I tried it again allowing any address. (define anyaddr (make-socket-address AF_INET INADDR_ANY 8080)); allow any address (bind sock anyaddr) And that works fine. But it's weird, because ifconfig lo0 says lo0: flags=8049 mtu 16384 inet6::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 So the loopback device is assigned to 127.0.0.1. There are any number of possible reasons but the more immediate concern is getting the house back in order:-) If you have moved, removed, or renamed anything in the Microsoft Office 2008 folder in your Applications folder make sure you put things back as they were. Resist the temptation to reinstall the software, though, as that could make matters worse. It is rarely the 'fix' for anything. If it does need to be done it must be done properly, but there are several approaches to take first. Before anything else, Quit all programs, then select Software Update from the Apple menu to make certain that you have all the latest fixes for OS X & JAVA. Once everything is confirmed as current launch Disk Utility & run the Repair disk permissions routine on your HD - it may take several minutes to complete. Restart your Mac afterward. Once the permissions repair is done see if you can launch Word. If it launches, go to Help> Check for Updates to make sure Office is fully updated. If you can't launch Word you can run the Check for Updates from the Help menu of either of the other Office apps. Once the updates are applied Repair disk permissions again & restart your Mac. Hey Steve, I have similar issues with a similar environment: Exchange 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 10 (Not Hybrid) Outlook 2016 for Mac either doesn't sync or stops syncing the Inbox. Strangely, my Online Archive DOES sync, and folders under the Inbox also sync. Outlook 2016 IMAP not synching Inbox. Symptoms: Outlook 2016 is only pulling emails from subfolders. Inbox is empty. Solution: Check if the path to your Inbox is set in your Outlook 2016 settings. To set the root folder path for your IMAP account. Double click on your IMAP account. Outlook versions 2010 through 2016 will (usually) force you into the IMAP camp. You can convert an IMAP account to a POP3 account, but you'll lose the in-the-cloud syncing capabilities. If I set this account up on the same Mac in a VM using Office 2016 for Windows, it works just fine. Deleting and re-adding the account in Outlook for Mac doesn't seem to help, nor does reinstalling. After launching Outlook for Mac and/or after clicking the 'Send & Receive' button, it says it is syncing then says 'All folders are up to date'. If I set up the same account on the same Mac with Outlook 2011, it works just fine. ~Chris I have the same issue, sort of. Mine syncs OK but not all updates sync back. I'll delete a message or move it, but when I log back onto my normal PC or my Webmail the message is still in the inbox. Sometimes it does delete/move. Sometimes it doesn't. All very strange and rather annoying when I'm working off this machine (which is when I tend to be on the road). Most versions of Microsoft Word for Windows and Mac OS X include a Change Case command that flips the selected text into one of several styles. You can convert a chunk of text typed in all uppercase letters to sentence case, which capitalizes the first word of a sentence and lowercases the rest. (You may have to go back to capitalize proper nouns, though.) The Change Case command can also switch a selected block of lowercase letters to uppercase or capitalize each word in a highlighted section. To in Word 2010 for Windows, select the text you want to convert. Then click the Change Case button on the Ribbon’s Home tab; the button’s icon looks like an uppercase and lowercase letter A side by side. You can also get to the Change Case command with a Windows keyboard shortcut. When you have selected the text you want to convert, press the Shift and F3 keys to cycle through all the case options, and stop on the one you want. The Change Case command works the same way in Word 2013 and Word 2016 for Windows, but may vary within earlier versions of Microsoft Word. In some versions of Word for Mac OS X, the Change Case command can be found under the Format menu; to use the keyboard shortcut, press Option-Command-C, which will cycle through the case styles.
